Latitude N34 46.614 x Longitude W82 33.175 CHURCH/CEMETERY HISTORY: ------------------------ James Wilson Ellison, Sr.( s/o James Hugh and Sarah Wilson Ellison) and his wife, Mary Polly Cox (d/o William, Sr. & Elizabeth Gambrell Cox) settled in the Brushy Creek area of Anderson County in the mid 1800's. NOTE: ----- (*) From my research, I have found these names & dates: James Wilson Ellison, Sr. was born April 1792 and died June 1873. His son, James Wilson Ellison, Jr. was born 26 Jun 1827 and died 2 May 1862(*). Death date on the stone appears to be the son's. Also, Jane Prater may be James Prather b. 6 Nov 1856, d. 2 Jul 1857. Louis ("Pat") Ellison was a Great, Great Grandson of James Wilson Ellison, Sr. By: Gretchen Ellison o----------o A three foot high by three foot wide tombstone monument marks the grave site of a couple of readable markers and about a dozen field rocks in the side yard of a trailer home as of Friday, 31 DEC 1999: ELLISON, James Wilson, b. 1792, d. 1862-(*) (APRIL 1792 - JUNE 1873) ELLISON, Mary "Polly" Cox (1796 - about 1872) (A list of their children is on the reverse side of the marker.) The death date on the tombstone is actually that of James Wilson Ellison, Jr. who died in VA in 1862. James Sr. died in 1873. His Will is dated 1873 and he has several court records in Anderson after 1862. The lady who had the tombstone erected had incorrect information.
